Group meets with Congressional offices this week to lobby for seniors
             Washington, D.C.  November 5, 2009  . . In a statement released today, RetireSafe President Thair Phillips calls AARP’s endorsement of the House health care bill the greatest fraud against seniors in the 21st century. He said, “AARP, easily the most influential seniors lobby, is using their clout to get a bill passed that will slash Medicare and ration the health care of seniors.”
According to Phillips, it’s a sham for AARP to throw its weight behind a bill most seniors do not support. He said, “AARP gets the major amount of its revenue from selling insurance and they DO have a dog in this fight. Instead of protecting their insurance coffers, AARP should be protecting the health of seniors, the very ones they are supposed to help.” 
Phillips contends that backing the 10-year, tax-hiking, $1.2 trillion House bill is a deceptive move for AARP, and its endorsement in today’s highly politicized atmosphere will anger many of its members.
RetireSafe represents older Americans who are concerned about cuts in Medicare payments to medical providers.  Visiting Congressional offices this week, the seniors’ advocacy group is making a last ditch effort to impact the legislation. They met with senior advisors at the White House last month.
 In a recent RetireSafe survey in their Listens campaign, over 1,500 older Americans expressed concern about the health care reform bill. Over half of the respondent, 60%, said  there are not any groups who represent their interest in Washington; 93% said being able to choose the doctor they want is a top priority; while 64% felt having a public option was their lowest priority.  RetireSafe launched the  Listens campaign to give seniors across the country a chance to voice their strong opinions.
Phillips encourages older people looking for someone to turn to now,  to visit RetireSafe’s website at www.retiresafe.org, and get their voice heard and counted in the online survey.
According to Phillips, our leaders should listen to seniors as well as to common sense views of officials like Tennessee Democratic Governor Phil Bredesen, who was one of the governors who didn’t sign a letter supporting the House bill.  A  former HMO executive, he has been perhaps the party’s sharpest critic in the funding debate. 
Said Phillips, “Gov. Bredesen, in an interview this September, called the potential expansion of Medicaid in health care reform ‘the mother of all unfunded mandates… We can’t print money. We can’t borrow money.  A lot of staffers in Congress really don’t understand this idea of a balanced budget.’ RetireSafe agrees.” 
With the help of AARP, House leaders may have the votes they need before the gavel falls Saturday. Said Phillips, “If so, older Americans are in for the sham of the century.”

RetireSafe also applauds the RNC for opposing efforts to ration health care based on age. “The Administration’s ‘comparative effectiveness research’ could lead to government boards rationing treatments based on age. This is an unfair sacrifice, and if the president’s plan passes, they’ll literally pay through the nose, teeth and every other body part as well,” he said. Senator Bayh,

As a practicing physician I have major concerns with the healthcare bill before Congress. I actually have read the bill and am shocked by the brazenness of the government’s proposed involvement in the patient physician relationship. The very idea that the government will dictate and ration patient care is dangerous and certainly not helpful in designing a healthcare system that works for all. Every physician I work with agrees that we need to fix our healthcare system, but the proposed bills currently making their way through congress will be a disaster if passed.

RetireSafe Blasts AARP for Supporting Plan to Pay for Health Care on the Backs of Seniors

Seniors group calls AARP’s support of Obama’s Rationing-by-Bureaucrat Proposal an Outrage to Older Americans

(Washington, DC) July 28, 2009 . . . Today the 400,000 strong senior-citizen group RetireSafe blasted AARP for endorsing the plan presented by President Obama and his Congressional allies that propose to cut $600 billion or more from Medicare to pay for “health care reform.” Thair Phillips, the new president of RetireSafe, said AARP had sold out America’s seniors.

Said Phillips, “I’m outraged that AARP has sold out seniors in favor of a plan that will bring in socialized medicine. I don’t think America’s seniors realize what adopting this health care reform could mean to them, and AARP is doing a great job of keeping it from them. As AARP is one of the biggest insurance hawkers in the U.S., we wonder what’s in it for them?”

The AARP-backed health care reform being discussed today in the tele-town hall meeting, would ration people’s care and hurt seniors the most. The very ones which have paid into the system don’t deserve to have their care cut. The effect of the health care plan on seniors would reduce their ability to obtain specialty care in areas such as orthopedics and cardiac care; threaten their home health care; cut diagnostics and research and innovation. The proposed public portion of the plan undercuts private plan options in Medicare, and will deny seniors their valued doctor-patient relationship.

“This will be one of the biggest boondoggles in the history of man.”

So says a RetireSafe supporter in response to our recent survey on the health care provisions in the proposed plan. This supporter’s comment represents the concerns of many seniors across America.

Phillips pointed out that 40 million plus older Americans will be forced to foot the bill for this ambitious reform scheme. He said, “Many of these same older Americans have paid Medicare taxes for their entire working lives. And now they will be cheated out of the benefits they’ve earned.”

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their “right” to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our “democracy”. Pride blind the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different “branches and denominations” were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the “winning” side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the “winning” side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

You all know how huge an aircraft carrier is, right? Think a floating city! So you get the picture. Now pretend you’re on that carrier and you’re in the middle of the ocean going due south and the seas are choppy. The captain gives the order to turn the vessel around so as to be going due north because he thinks the waters will be much calmer and he can control the ship easier.
It would take that aircraft carrier quite a long time to come about 180 degrees to get to that due north heading. Wouldn’t you say that what I’ve said is reasonable?
So, our captain is BHO and he has decided to turn the aircraft carrier that is America said 180 degrees by getting up enough speed (car-style), slamming on the brakes, manuever the steering wheel and come about in the direction from which it came. That’s okay for a car but to do that with an aircraft carrier would cause considerable damage in the short run and that damage can’t be undone anytime soon even if it was possible to do it at all.
BHO doesn’t care about the damage done. His course of action for America is ill-advised. His wild spending on everything government is a prescription for disaster. To wit: He and his congress are throwing money that we don’t have at GM for instance. Some $30 billion (I think) has been given to them and they still look like they are headed for bankruptcy. So, you see, throwing money at a problem for the sake of throwing money at the problem doesn’t work. It never has worked. From the earliest Great Society and War on Poverty pledges until now, the Left has thrown money at the problem. Has it made it any better since the mid 1960s? Are America’s inner cities any better for all that money? Is there more opportunity in these urban centers? Any sober look at those questions would have to be answered negatively.
It is my contention that the BHO admin. wants total chaos so everyone needs to come to him and his government for their “daily bread!” Be ever mindful, dear reader. These policies come from eggheads who read books and believe their own blather. How many of you have ever worked in the real world when a fresh-faced kid comes out of school with wonderful credentials and revolutionary ideas and they get tested in the real world? What was the result?
This country isn’t some policy-wonk’s playground. We are real people who must live in the real world and the last thing we need is a president who will “fix” everything and an admin. and mainstream media bowing to his every desire. We are teetering on the brink everyone. BHO is just a man who is trying to turn our ship around on a dime. It is unthinkable and will only end in disaster.

Okay, let’s take a sober look at the beginnings of the Obama Administration. shall we? I have been pilloried by some about printing that I thought BHO was “Dangerous” for America. Well, his Secretary of the Treasury (the head IRS guy) is a tax cheat who didn’t pay his taxes for most of this decade until he had to so he could get the nomination for the post. BHO’s Attorney General nominee helped pardon Mark Rich (he of Iran arms deal fame) and FALN terrorists responsible for some 40 bombings. But that’s okay because the former said his tax cheating “was an honest mistake” and the latter said “he’s learned a lot” from those dealings. And guess who looks the other way and gives these guys a pass? Congress, the Mainstream News Media and BHO himself. If you don’t see the danger in this then….
How do you like that your tax dollars are now paying for abortions overseas? You say it’s a woman’s right. Okay, fine. For the sake of argument, let’s say you are correct. The baby inside these pregnant women can’t live outside the womb during the first 20 weeks or so. They are then just viable tissue masses, but why in Sam Hill does the American taxpayer have to pay for them? Is this the way BHO voters truly wanted your tax dollars to be spent? Are we all breaking the Commandment “Thou Shalt Not Kill?” If you can’t see the danger to these unborn children then…..
Maybe you are starting to get what I meant concerning BHO and his administration being dangerous. I didn’t even mention Hillary’s “credentials.”
